AAROD -- Anesthesia Assisted Rapid Opiate Detoxification™
Anesthesia Assisted Rapid Opiate Detoxification™ is a safe and effective method of rapidly detoxifying the body of
opiates without the patient experiencing significant detoxification withdrawal. In essence, this means that the patient is fully sedated while the detoxification process is administered by a board certified
anesthesiologist and skilled nurses. The process takes from 4 to 6 hours and has proven to be a valuable and medically safer alternative
for those who are addicted to opiate type drugs and who want to terminate the use of such drugs.
Perhaps the most important benefit is that the patient does not experience the
agonizing withdrawals of traditionally quitting "cold turkey," or suffer the prolonged consequences of other treatments such as methadone
maintenance. Another benefit that has emerged is that rapid detox greatly reduces the potential of an individual returning to using as a
result of the withdrawal symptoms. This period has proven to be when an individual is most like to resume using opiates in order to escape
the physically and mentally painful withdrawals.
Additionally, The patient is able to immediately enter continuing care, and return to work, family, and normal activities
much sooner than traditional detoxification methods.
When the opiates are detoxified from the nervous system, the patient's condition is clinically managed with
FDA approved medications administered by experienced AAROD anesthesiologists and a nursing staff trained specifically in the AAROD procedure.
